Description—
Anita K. Boyle is a graphic designer, illustrator, editor and publisher in Bellingham, Washington, where she lives on a small farm with a variety of animals. There is a pond in the middle of her land, which is a source of inspiration. In the spring, the sound of the frogs courting is deafening; in summer, water lilies line the surface; during autumn a quiet descends on the still mirror; and throughout the winter, all life submerges and considers change.
Comments—
“Anita K. Boyle has achieved an immediate and direct communication without having to sacrifice neither language nor image.”
—Anselm Parlatore
excerpt from Arbutus.net critic
“Her poems vacillate comfortably between the elegant and the elemental, between simplicity and complexity, between the natural world and the imaginary…they occupy the world of the mind.”
—Polly Buckingham

Scent Of Lavender
The woman in Levi's
and a John Deere cap
cuts a handful
of lavender from her garden,
hands it to me,
then takes a shavel, cuts
the bush in half,
puts it in a bucket
in the back of my old truck.
It's hot.
The little flowers
are fragrant and hard,
